About the Artist +
  • Adam Christopher Imam is a traditional Sohrai and Khovar artist from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, India. He has been actively practicing the Oaron style of Sohrai painting since 2015, learning the art through his grandmother. His work reflects indigenous knowledge, traditional motifs, and the use of natural earth pigments. Through murals, exhibitions, workshops, handicrafts, and cultural preservation initiatives, he continues to promote and preserve the rich heritage of Sohrai and Khovar art.
About the Artwork +
  • This Sohrai and Khovar folk artwork features two majestic long-tailed birds encircling a smaller bird, surrounded by floral branches and decorative natural motifs. Bold black contours, flowing forms, and earthy terracotta, mustard, cream, olive, and white tones create a dynamic handcrafted mural celebrating protection, harmony, renewal, and Jharkhand’s enduring indigenous relationship with wildlife and nature.
