About the Artist +
- Adam Christopher Imam is a traditional Sohrai and Khovar artist from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, India. He has been actively practicing the Oaron style of Sohrai painting since 2015, learning the art through his grandmother. His work reflects indigenous knowledge, traditional motifs, and the use of natural earth pigments. Through murals, exhibitions, workshops, handicrafts, and cultural preservation initiatives, he continues to promote and preserve the rich heritage of Sohrai and Khovar art.
About the Artwork +
This Sohrai and Khovar folk artwork portrays two elegant long-legged cranes facing one another, surrounded by dotted floral clusters, radiant plant motifs, and a decorative border. Bold black silhouettes, layered feather patterns, and earthy terracotta, mustard, cream, olive, and white tones create a balanced handcrafted mural celebrating companionship, grace, fertility, harmony, and Jharkhand’s indigenous artistic heritage.
